The Driver
Hi there! My name is Matt Crane, and I’m the driver of car #112 in SCCA Spec Miata, and the founder of Crane Racing - and oh man do I love cars. It’s hard to say whether it started with my dad’s Porsche 924 back in 1990 when I was five years old, or if it goes back even further than my memory allows. But, safe to say that for a lifelong car guy, owning and operating a race car is about as good as it gets.
Prior to racing cars, I was a professional cyclist for eight years, and spent three years on the U.S. National Cycling Team. I’m an experienced and deeply focused competitor, and have been my whole life. I race clean, and I race to win. At this point, and from my years as a pro, media training and representing brands is in my blood.
As far as the non profit affinity goes, I have that verve thanks to spending almost a decade in fundraising, both as development director at a local organization for youth in public housing, and later in major giving for a much larger non profit media company. I currently work in the IT sector.
When I’m not driving, I’m into motorcycles, photography, the beach, helping non profits with fundraising questions, and hanging out with my dog Henry. My favorite racing driver is Mark Donahue, and my favorite track is Watkins Glen.
I would love to have you along for this journey so that I can represent your brand and build a partnership for creating exciting opportunities for your business, the #112 car, and most importantly, our non profit partner: Richmond’s Revive the Drive.
Let’s go racing together!
